Scorch technique on ash wood creates a walking stick masterpiece.
This natural ash wood walking stick comes from a family of more rustic versions, but with a simpler yet dynamic finish that brings out the grain of the wood brilliantly.
A traditional European style knobstick
These are beautifully stout ash wood sticks and are grown in the woodlands surrounding picturesque Somerset, England and represent just one imaginative style of the imported cane specimens you might add to your collection. Produced using the coppicing method, this stick is formed from the shoot that grows when the upper part of a young ash tree is removed. The bark is stripped away (reduced) to reveal the bare wood underneath.
Using fire to create a cool effect!
The stick is then scorched with a controlled flame to bring out the beautiful pattern of the grain. Finally the it is polished with a fine grit and lacquered to create a wonderful sheen.
